"I wish we had more voices like yours...

I want to write a character for your voice."

-Adam Guettel

About Me

If Ethel Merman and Shakespeare had a baby, it would be me.

I was born and raised in Everett, Massachusetts—a city just north of Boston affectionately called “The Dirty E"—and achieved epic nerd status at an early age through my affinities for marching band and homework. I studied English and Italian at Harvard, and spent my junior spring in London, where I took classes at The Globe Theatre and became something of a Magner's cider expert.

After Harvard, I moved to New York City, intending to pursue a career in dramaturgy. But while attending a performance of A Little Night Music, as I watched a single tear trickle down Bernadette Peters' cheek as she heart-wrenchingly delivered "Send in the Clowns," I realized that performing is not a secondary hobby; it is my first love.

I embraced this love in a summer apprenticeship at Barrington Stage Company, where I worked with the likes of William Finn, Marin Mazzie, Leslie Kritzer, and Annie Golden. I then pursued my MFA in Musical Theater at The Boston Conservatory, where I developed a one-woman cabaret, Mother Mary Says to Me, which I've performed to packed houses at American Repertory Theatre's OBERON and Feinstein's/54 Below. Recently, I have performed as everything from an enlightened, belting octopus to a sleezy male nightclub owner, a drunk orphanage matron to a Star Trek icon Off-Broadway, and I can't wait for the next adventure!

News & Updates

January 2020

Thank you, Michael Kushner, for my fierce new headshots! I can't wait to put these puppies back to good use once our industry can be safely revived.  http://www.michaelkushnerphotography.com/

December 2019

Very grateful that boozing, bullying, and belting earned me a nomination for PA's BroadwayWorld Awards! Many of my Dutch Apple pals got some love, too!

September 2019

I had a fabulous time performing with some distinguished cohorts in an evening of good, old-fashioned belting honoring the iconic Jule Styne at Guild Hall in East Hampton! https://www.guildhall.org/events/let-me-entertain-you-the-jule-styne-songbook/

Summer 2019

This summer I was a washed-up alcoholic who bullied children and seduced middle-aged laundrymen. Also, I played Miss Hannigan at The Dutch Apple in Lancaster, PA. www.DutchApple.com

March 2019

I made my Off-Broadway debut in The Big Bang Theory: A Pop-Rock Musical Parody, as gender-bending, smartass extraterrestrial Q from Star Trek. I spent my spring antagonizing the Big Bang gang -- all in good fun, of course. www.bigbangparody.com! 🖖

BROADWAYWORLD CABARET

"The oft-working singer/actor/cabaret diva works around the country and around the city, bringing her fabulosity to every role she plays and in her one-woman show "Mother Mary Says To Me" she pays tribute to her own mother, Mary, in all her Bostonian, Irish-Catholic sensibilities.

- Stephen Mosher, Broadway World Cabaret | Mr. Mosher sweetly chose my cabaret as a BWW Mother's Day playlist pick! See the full article HERE.

"With covers of songs made famous by The Beatles, Carole King, Barbra Striesand and Liza Minnelli, people really will enjoy them, as Meagan makes each number uniquely her own." - Stephen Mosher, Broadway World Cabaret  | My quarantine-long "Housebound Sounds" series was also spotlighted in Mr. Mosher's feature on "Isolation Creation." Check it out HERE.

ANNIE

"Meagan Michelson plays Miss Hannigan, the orphanage's caretaker and overall troublemaker. It was clear that Michelson was having as much fun playing the role, as the audience had watching her. I especially liked the fact that she was more childish and immature than most of the 8 year olds in her care." - Rich Mehrenberg, Broadway WorldRead the full review HERE.

And check out my exclusive Broadway World interview with Andrea Stephenson HERE.

"Miss Hannigan is played so wonderfully and comically by Meagan Michelson that you *almost* want to like her."

- Hope Frick, Sarah Bozich Review | Full review HERE.

BIG BANG THEORY: A POP-ROCK MUSICAL PARODY

My solo from The Big Bang Theory: A Pop-Rock Musical Parody was featured on Playbill.com! Check it out HERE.

42ND STREET

This ensemble is a well-oiled tap-dancing machine, and when the entire cast is singing and dancing, it’s phenomenal. Ms. Michelson, a great belter, gets her moments in the spotlight, though I would’ve loved to have heard more of her, and Broadway Palm favorite Victor Legarreta gets to play his vaudeville-like schtick as Bert, the co-creator of “Pretty Lady.” - Nancy Stetson, Florida Weekly

MAMMA MIA!

"Rosie [is] played by the heir apparent to Bette Midler, Meagan Michelson." - Shane Riggs, Allegany Magazine

MOTHER MARY SAYS TO ME

"[The show] expressed the kind of gratitude one hopes to share with their own mother figure. I wish I had brought my Mom to see it; MMSTM had the kind of edge my Mumma Geek enjoys, and the heart to put a twinkle in anyone’s eye...Michelson has an invigorating belt that colors her storytelling with a spectrum of colors...This shading is particularly evident in her rendition of “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” It’s a funny but sad moment of reminiscing on romantic disappointments...[H]er voice’s color really shines...Michelson performs for us with vulnerability and comedic bravada. This performance was sold out – and with good reason. Next time she’s in town, be sure to buy your tickets early."

- Kitty Drexel, The New England Theatre Geek

"Back from her world tour of Boston, Meagan returns to Feinstein's/54 Below with her hit cabaret, Mother Mary Says to Me." Read the full Broadway World article HERE!

WAISTWATCHERS THE MUSICAL!

"One of the show's unsung heroes is Meagan Michelson, who first greets the audience and works to get us pumped up for the show, then comes back onstage in various laugh-inducing guises." - The Orange County Register
